The siren is still screaming, I can hear it all the way back on the North Side. So can the zombies, it looks like they're starting to shamble out of the outlying communities and heading for down town.
I damn near choked myself a sheriff, but the guardsmen convinced me I'd feel bad about it in the morning. She wanted to get them close enough to shoot at. She's going Rambo on us. They got her handcuffed in one of the half tracks. Running loose and playing Resident Evil isn't going to off these bastards, we've got to get organized.
With most of the local Guard currently shambling in circles downtown, and no word on when we can expect a full mobilization, if any, it's up to us. Band together, people, get your backs to something defensible, quit feeding the zombies more of you!
Christ on a cupcake and Coyote on a stick, it was good to see the family. But we're on the move again. The high school is completely surrounded by twelve feet of chain link, and we're electrifying it. The Guard's collecting the living and getting them up there. We'll be going soon.
We're going to have to leave all but Lucky behind, but they'll be safe. Our fence is shored up, and what's left of our block is here waiting for the tracks to get them to the high school.
The sun's going down, and I can't figure what the hell is up with the sky, but after the green streak we saw here a few years back, nothing surprises me anymore. People are talking about the end of the world, but I don't have time to worry about it.
Way back a few hundred years ago, this happened. The sky went black as tar before noon, and a local citizens council wanted to break meeting and run home to be with their families, thinking it was the end of the world.
But one man spoke up and said "If it is indeed the day of Judgement, then I would rather that my lord God find me peacefully at my employment and waiting calmly for Him, than under my bed cringing."
Yeah. That. If it is a day of judgement, find me working to keep all I got together.
