I don't really post much about politics these days but I read this the other day in a German news paper. It was in the American ones back in February but I'm a bit flabergasted that it wasn't one of the biggest issues out there.
Apparently one of the biggest pieces of Senator Obama's economic plan is to establish a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to spend some $60 billion on improvements to roads, bridges and waterways (this strikes me as somehow familiar, I know I've heard it
somewhere before...).
He's basically telling the sheep populace that he wants to start his own national bank.... Apparently no one remembers how well that one went over the last time.
This is a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad idea. If there is one area that nearly ever government excess at it is losing money (especially ours, and the distinguished gentleman from Illinois wants us to give him even more of our hard earned money for him to invest how he sees fit? Not that I'm against internal improvements, quite the opposite; I just don't think we should go around chartering banks willy-nilly so that he has a new (and expensive) shiny building to point at and tell every one how good a job he's doing....
God save us all, however this election goes we're screwed.
In brighter news, Senator McCain has chosen a running-mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Quite the dark horse but I think she'll do well for the cause, and bring in a good number of women voters I imagine... despite what the
New York Times says about her I think it is a good pick... and she's kinda hot too....
