A Special Long Weekend
So Friday was Independents day and a long holiday weekend. I was lucky and got to spend all of the Fourth with Maria Love. We went to the church picnic at Kate Sessions Park, Maria got glowing reviews from the church family, as I was sure she would. We also went and saw WALL-E, it was really really cute. We tried to see it last week but Maria got hurt, we made it safely this time. Maria actually cried because WALL-E nearly forgot about EVE, and I have to admit that I was worried for a second that Disney might have made a movie with a sad ending. But it was okay, he remembered and EVE and WALL-E held hands, just like he always wanted.
We spent the whole day together, after the movie we went to Studio Dinner and then to watch the fireworks at this spot I know in Clairemont where you can see all seven shows. It was beautiful to just hold her and watch the fireworks, I've not shared the connection we had that night in a long time, if ever.
Maria is getting wonderfully into Firefly. SBG got all herself over my borrowing her copy and said she wanted it back, I did (you can see how she reacted to that HERE) but in a delightful moment of cosmic irony, Maria had bought the series the day before, Shiny!
In other news, my Kindle went tits up which was decidedly unpleasant. The stupid display won't resolve and all I get are black lines. The OS still seems to know what it is doing, just the display is FUBARed. Really makes me sad, but I called customer service and they're going to send me a new one with out too much hassle, which is a good thing. but until then I'm stuck with mundane paper books to read, sad times...
I was late to work this morning because I seem not to be able to operate an alarm clock, I set it for pm instead of am and I was an hour and a half late, now I'll need to stay an hour and a half later than normal, although I might be able to cut that short when every one else leaves, we'll see.
Well, I've stolen enough of works time, back to work I guess.
