Rest

Nov 29, 2006 23:09

Okay, so, you all can see my previous post. The one about being tired, that I posted at about 5 today. You can see when I posted it, so you know that it's before I went to Chi Alpha. So you know that what I'm about to say isn't a product of retrospect.

So, I go to Chi Alpha, kind of beat. I was strongly tempted to just nap through the whole thing, but eh, it's good to go. So I get there, talk for a bit, and go into praise and worship. Now, the first song is "Come All Ye Faithful," which is ironic since I heard that at my parents, and I really wanted to sing it at Chi Alpha at the last meeting...and we did. Next, Laura, the praise and worship leader, shared a word with us. Well, first she asked a question: who there was tired? And of course, everyone raised their hand, especially me, who'd almost skipped the meeting to sleep (ironically, in her prayer she asked God to bless those of us who could have been using this time to either study or sleep). So she told us that God was rest, and that we should just let Him be the rest in our lives. To set aside all our worries and weariness, and just worship Him, and that He would take our worries and weariness away. And do you know, He did! I came out of that meeting more relaxed than I've been since before Thanksgiving, and I had a vacation in there! It's amazing that God is our comforter and our rest, and I am very grateful that He gifted us with that tonight. All praise and glory be to God Almighty, Lord of Heaven and Earth!

God bless and be with you,

--Joe
