No More Religion
So I have decided to go from a semi-passive live-and-let-live atheist to an angry, belligerent, accusatory atheist. Here’s a true story:
A relative of mine is very sick with a rare and possibly deadly disease (we’ll call him Stan). Stan is currently in the hospital receiving treatment is and is getting better. One of the few blessings is that Stan is young and good health (being in the military and active in sports all his life). Stan’s mother decided that Stan could use some comforting and invited the pastor of their church to stop by and wish him well. The pastor explained to Stan that the reason he is sick is because God is unhappy that Stan has put more importance on sports and the military than on religion and the Church. Stan didn’t know what to say and was basically dumbstruck by the comment. It wasn’t until later that Stan became totally pissed of and angry about the whole thing and is now considering leaving his church.
Seriously, a true story. So is that who God is? The kind of being who would actually intentionally injure someone for not paying them enough attention? Hm, according to the Bible that would be a yes. I am truly and disgusted with religion and whish everyone would just get over it.
