this is really scary. i mean, teaching kids to believe somethign without scientific method or basis in schools is one thing.  eventaully they will graduate and the smarter ones will se throught the fog of bias when they apply to colleges in hopes of landing real jobs that dont involve ooooh, say, farmin'.  the article quotes pascal's wager wherein ( Read more... )

I guess I don't see what the hot button on this was... I just found it to be ignorant and just a little dumb. It wasn't your typical Conservative Tirade, wherein someone jumps up and down about everything being against God. I just read it as terribly uninformed and trying to spin a political issue using religious grounds and failing miserably. You simply can't apply God to everything.

It's like my (Irish Catholic) bio prof said: "Science and faith are not mutually exclusive. It's possible to have both, but trying to use one as an argument against the other is pointless, because they exist on totally different realms. It's possible to be religious and still be a scientist, and vice versa." He's a pretty cool guy.

Me, though... I'm all for the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
