Firstly, keep a look-out for this on the "Post an Entry" page:
Change the date and time to somewhere in the future. Make sure that it isn't too close (e.g. a date in 2009 or 2010). That means you're actually posting from that future date, and so the post will remain on top as it is by far the most recent entry. Also, make sure that the "Date Out of Order" box is checked.
