Hello, I'm going insane.
I think it's because I haven't really left the apartment in three days (which my brain is sure was really only two days -- the first warning sign). Not helping is the fact that, out of all of the "jobs" that I looked at on my local Craigslist today, I think maybe two of them might be legit.
My favorite part? That doesn't include the ad looking to hire
a prostitute, which also appears to be
a scam (unless they're also hiring for prostitutes in Washington, Edinburgh, and Manchester).
I need to get out of the house.
So, um, what should I do? I'd like to take the train to Manhattan and do something tomorrow, but I have no clue what. Ideally, something cheap (or, bare minimum, not extravagant). Bonus points if there's a groovy vegetarian restaurant nearby.
I know a bunch of you guys live or have lived here -- any suggestions?
(As an example: Last week I went and applied for a job at
The Strand, then walked up E. 14th Street and had lunch at
Curly's Vegetarian Lunch. I spent too much at The Strand, but otherwise it was a flawless plan.)
Most weeks I meet
aaronbenedict for lunch at least once, which salves that need to go out and be with the three-dimensional humans. Sadly, this week he's in California, doing his quarterly California thingamadoodle. He'll be back on Friday, but if I don't get out of here before then, I'm going to be insane.
Suggestions?
I pondered posting to
newyorkers, but they were in the "Community Spotlight" this week, and have been inundated with "I'm coming to New York -- what should I do?" posts, and I'm not in the mood to be snarked at.
