Tonight I had to pick up a prescription after work.

When I went to pay, I discovered that my copayment had quadrupledI live in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has been in the news lately because during the town hall health care meetings, Senator Arlen Specter has been getting screamed at left and right

You're sure that it has actually quadrupled, and that it wasn't some dumb insurance company error?

I had the pharmacist doublecheck.

She said it was on my insurance company's "new fee schedule, effective July 1."

Premiums go up, coverage goes down.

At least you have prescription coverage. I'm currently without any insurance (though I signed up for a "limited liability" plan through The Concourse during their open enrollment. That will have a $50/month cap on perscriptions. In the meantime, I continue to pay out of pocket.

I scratched my cornea a couple of weeks ago removing a contact lens. My doctor's visit was covered at America's Best, because I joined their Eye Care Club last year. I needed antibiotic eye drops. The perscription cost me $61, and I missed two shifts of work
