Tonight I had to pick up a prescription after work.

You're sure that it has actually quadrupled, and that it wasn't some dumb insurance company error?

I had the pharmacist doublecheck.

She said it was on my insurance company's "new fee schedule, effective July 1."

Premiums go up, coverage goes down.

At least you have prescription coverage. I'm currently without any insurance (though I signed up for a "limited liability" plan through The Concourse during their open enrollment. That will have a $50/month cap on perscriptions. In the meantime, I continue to pay out of pocket.

I scratched my cornea a couple of weeks ago removing a contact lens. My doctor's visit was covered at America's Best, because I joined their Eye Care Club last year. I needed antibiotic eye drops. The perscription cost me $61, and I missed two shifts of work
