sunsets to sunrise, this is my goodbyeₒ

- born 'jacqueline', but she's been called 'jackie' since she was a child-- at first because she and her brothers couldn't pronounce the longer name, and then simply because it stuck.

- with only brothers and no female cousins, she grew up as a serious tomboy. her mother tried her best to make her more effeminate, but jackie never much cared for traditional gender roles.

- she met the head of the baskerville family when she was still just a little girl. she thought he seemed sad, so she made it her mission to befriend him. she actually succeeded relatively quickly, in fact, and spent much of her childhood in and out of the baskerville house, spending time with glen. since he was so well-respected and influential, her parents had no objections or concerns.

- glen only reinforced her very stubborn, independent personality, encouraging her to always think for herself. in part, it expresses itself in her clothing, which tends toward more masculine styles such as breeches, boots, and waistcoats. she does add the occasional feminine touch with a little lace or a softer colour when she wants to feel like a woman.

- at fifteen, she was married off to a minor noble twice her age. she's been miserable with him since day one, and refuses to use his surname.

- she's been pregnant several times, but each time she's miscarried.

- she found gilbert and vincent three years ago, at twenty-one, and kicked the crap out of the people that were attacking them. she promptly took both of them home and told her husband that he could find another bed if he had a word to say about the boys. only a few weeks afterward, she adopted them both.

- she frequently has to break up arguments between her husband and glen.

- on that note, sometimes she has to take the boys and go stay at the baskerville house when things between she and her husband are particularly tense.

- one particularly bad night, she went to bed with glen, and was horrified with herself the next morning-- she couldn't speak to or even see him for weeks afterward.

- thanks to her influence, alice and her twin haven't been locked up in the tower in years. they still don't get along terribly well with the boys, but it's more the usual 'eww, girls' and 'eww, boys' thing than outright hostility. thankfully. jackie'd box all their ears if they were mean to one another.
