What a weekend

I don't have the time for a proper post, but since I have *some* time I thought I'd best get something down rather than nothing.

Our trip to NYC this weekend was just fabulous.  It was just so phenomenal to put actual warm-blooded, moving, huggable people with the blogs that I follow.  It was tough to find a hotel room since the marathon was going on, so we stayed in a rented bedroom in a brownstone in Harlem.  I was a little nervous about it, but it turned out to be great and SOOO much cheaper than a hotel.

We met most of the moms on Saturday AM for breakfast.  I am still stunned by how everyone was just exactly how they were supposed to be.  We met at Shelli's place.  After breakfast, it was so much fun to watch Quinn playing with the other babies.  She'd never interacted with a baby her own age-ish.  She got to play with Natalie and Charlie and Malka and Julia and Wyatt.  Quinn got a big smooch from the Chuzzle.  (Estelle - mind if I post that picture here of her with the big eyes?  It's private at Flickr.)  It was so nice to be able to share "real time" with the other moms.  There was much so-n-so does that too going on.

After the breakfast, the rest of the party-goers arrived.  So many of you have said how nervous you were about meeting folks.  I suppose that was the way I should have felt, but I was just so excited to see who would walk through the door next.  The first to arrive was somerandomchic.  She is one of the first Obsessors that I really clicked with and getting to finally meet her was awesome.

The rest of the night was filled with loud laughter, good food new(ish) friends and lots of truths and lies.  I wish that I would have had a whole day or at least an hour to sit down with each person to talk.  The party was over way too quickly.  Suddenly it was 7 or 8 or so and the babies were all cranky and the rest of the crowd was itching to go out and drink and talk to some more.  Saying goodbye sucked, but I got to the leave with lots of mental snapshots.  I can also hear what you all sound like when you are laughing.

Hopefully I'll get time later to tell you about how we almost broke up in Rockefeller Center, how we got trapped in Central Park by the NY Marathon, how we had the most expensive meal of our lives at museum restaurant and how my cell phone is currently lost in the back of a gypsy cab.
