When we got to Origins we found out that nobody was signed up for Neopets AND that the prizes were accidentally mailed to OR instead of OH. They were apologetic and gave us some free item code cards. Eric hadn't put a deck together, but had his cards and put one together on the spot. My deck played very well and I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of things. Now I just gotta find some other folks that wanna play. We played 3 games and I righteously kicked his ass.
One of the memorable points was as I was walking past a vampire game booth, a dude came up to me and asked if I had an account at OKCupid. It took several seconds to understand what he was saying, but then it clicked. I guess he recognized me from the hair. He (Chris) is like a 72 or so % match as he had marked me down as someone to contact. He seemed very nice and reminded me of Marie's husband.
On Sunday, I went with
gweeb and his cousin Steve. They mainly wanted to check out the art and since I had free passes for them, we just did sort of a quickie walk around.
meglett went to a family thing, so I hung out by myself for a while, but then had Chris and Stacey come over to play some games. I had bought 5 little card games at Origins that cost $1 or $3 each. We played a game called "Summer Camp." It was definitely $3 worth of fun. Maybe even as much as $7.
On the 4th itself, we went to the Doo Dah Parade. I got some pics that amuse me quite a bit.
We had bubble tea with the boys and hung out to chat for quite a while. This pic is of them coordinating well with the wall.
Then we went to Ed's for some veggieburgs and fireworks. That party proved once and for all that library nerds and game nerds are not the same and do not overlap. Megan and I were not cool enough for either group, so we sorta just migrated around. We got to Ed's kittens (that are now cats). Mmmm.... fluffy.
Monday night we got to sleep in our own bed for the first time in over 2 weeks (except for my napping, of course) because of us cat-sitting. I <3 my bed. Sigh....
