My goodness it has been a while. So what's happened since the last time I posted? Well....
Dustin my SO proposed on Valentine's Day. We were planning an October wedding next year, but holy shit weddings are expensive. The average wedding in the US cost about $29,000. There was no way we could fit that in our budget and neither one of our respective parents could help with it. Then there is the fact that Dustin's family all live in the midwest and mine are just about all southerners. Neither one of our families had the money to travel for the wedding and they were both trying to pull us to have the wedding in their respective areas. So both of us got fed up and when we went to Florida to change our address so that we don't have to pay state income tax, we eloped. So I am officially married. WOOO!
We decided to take the money that we would've spent on the wedding and bought a 34' travel trailer so that we wouldn't have to continue staying in hotels (I can cook! Hell to the yes) and a new diesel truck to pull it. Much better deal than spending all that money on an eight hour event that only half our families would be able to attend. Not to mention that my SO now has a credit score. Work is going well for him and I'm enjoying seeing the country.
We're back in Wisconsin for now which is nice because we got to go to his sister's graduation parties, which are like a really big deal here. Everyone comes. It's almost like a mini redneck wedding. They make like a little altar that has all their awards and all the pictures from highschool for everyone to look at. And it's all nostalgia filled. Like they really believe that high school is the best years of your life. Everyone I knew was out the door and happy to finally breathe free air. My class was 736 compared to their 50 students, and I can count on my hand the number of people who had graduation parties. It's just really weird to me.
