In Shadow: Traped

Things weren't going exactly the way that Brand had hoped they would. What he had expected to be a quick scouting mission into Shadow had turned into a flight for his life in a place that, well, wasn't so accomidating to his being half of a living Trump. Running he jumped over a large tree root stumbling as he landed scraping the balls of his hands before pushing forward. Lucas was the runner of the family. Not him.

It was chasing him. It being something that he had thought long gone never to return again. Truth be told the way things usually worked in their family it should not have been that much of a surprise to him but it was. Laughter followed behind him as something ruffled the underbrush beside of his feet urging him to push faster.

His lungs hurt. His legs ached. But he had to run.

Reaching down for the back of Trumps at his side he threw the top of the pouch open and breathed fire as he spoke. "To me!" Certain cards shifted within the pack and he all but cursed and strained his fingers wider. "To me!"

Trumps flew from the pouch circling about him as he ran- half his concentration spent keeping the cards up and moving while the rest centered on the path infront of him. Shifting out was going to be all but impossible for now.

"Go..find them..go!" Slowly the cards started to vanish as his foot hit an unseen root sending the Price flying forward, landing hard upon his shoulder to tumble across the ground. When he stopped the world spun and his body throbbed. One single card floated down to land beside of him like a feather having been plucked from a bird.

A black cloaked figure, boots crunching on the ground, stepped out of shadow beside of him. Stooping the figure reached out a black gloved hand and picked the delicate card up, turning it over in its hand before stopping to look at the image of a bar with a very strange window. The figure never spoke but the darkest of smiles crossed its bearded face as Brand's screams echoed then faded into night.
