I applied for food stamps today. I have never been to a welfare office before, but I have discovered it's just about the same as a DMV experience. As I was handing in an application a man in the line next to me aggressively complained to the woman at his window about the incompetency of everyone in the office. Eventually security got involved, and he sat down where he continued to complain loudly to the person next to him. Quite the spectacle. I went at 9:00am and most seats were filled, but it only took about an hour for me to complete the process. You would think that Los Angeles county would have the option to apply online. I don't expect to get approved because I don't pay rent, but it would be nice if I did.

I applied for food stamps because the job hunt is not going well. I am pretty sure work experience is trumping my college degree in service industry jobs. I am beginning to think I should learn to program. Most of my programmer friends have jobs.

I went to Pride on Saturday in San Diego with my sister, and then we saw Despicable Me. San Diego has a more moderate climate than Altadena, thankfully. Living on the coast gives a lovely breeze lacking inland. I liked the movie but Toy Story 3 was better if you have to choose between the two. Seeing my sister was awesome. I am so glad she lives so close.

I'm still isolated and bored, but I'm taking measures to fix it. I go hiking and I'm going to start doing volunteer work. I practice poi and have decided to do make something (drawing, photograph, prose, poetry) every day.
