Whenever I am reading and thinking about political stuff I always wonder if there are things that I am not considering. So thanks for posting.

You didn't say anything that I disagree with. However, I think that it's important to remind people why they shouldn't be apathetic. Afterall, the threat of impending doom works to mobilize people; it worked for the Bush administration.

One thing that's worth noting is that yes, we were attacked. But Bush intentionally put looking for terroists aside when he took office. And when we were hit by Al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden, we went and attacked Saddam Hussein (we attacked in Afghanistan too, yet Osama's still at large). It just doesn't make sense to me, and I think it does make sense to be upset about it instead of just letting it go saying "What's done is done."

I thought this article put nicely into words some thoughts I have had for a long while. And I've oppressed my political side since the election simply because I had the mentality that "What's done is done." I don't think it's good for me to do that anymore.

you're right it's not. and I agree with the osama/saddam, it's kinda like 1984. I dunno if you've read it, but there are three countries in the world, and we're constantly at war with one of them. Which one it is switches without any notice or reason, and the whole osama to saddam thing reminded me of it.

And about the apathy thing, here's an interesting (at least to me) thought I've had: despite severe threat of imminent attack by insurgents, the Iraqi elections had a turnout of about 72%. I'm not exactly sure what the American turnout is, but I do know that here in our safe first world country, the turnout is not nearly that high. Somethin' to think about
