Monsieur de Toulouse-Lautrec stopped by again today. He wanted to show me the sketches he did of me about a month before, and the painting - yes, the painting! - he had done, using the sketches as reference. I was amazed and humbled, and said as much.

"I don't know who would wish to buy it, though," I added. "As I'm hardly your usual subject." As in, not a beautiful woman, sitting, sleeping, dancing...

"You are an artist," he replied. "And this is art."

I decided not to argue with him.
