Crush of the week-Idina Menzel
So I read this somewhere and I figured it's kinda fun. So here I go with my crush of the week.
Idina Menzel
"I've been singing since I was born. It's something I do everywhere I go. In the shower, walking down the street. I don't need any impetus to do it. I just sing."
Why her? The most simple answer, I watched Wicked, and befor you ask, yes on youtube. And I thought to myse
lf: "Huh, who is singing Elphaba-she has a great voice. And she looks pretty although she's green." I knew Kristin Chenoweth by name and image^^ but Idina.. well I didnt know her conciously. So I looked her up, and realized that actually I do know her, for example as the Trainer of Vocal Adrenalin on Glee. Or playing the role of Nancy in "Enchanted".
So I guess I mostly fell for her voice, and her pick of songs, all of the ones I have heard so far had great lyrics and melody. Therefor I was only mildly surprised to find that she actually writes her music herself. And you know what they say.. Music goes straight to the heart.
Anyway if that isn't enough of a reason I recommand her comedy skills. She always brings some light-hearted comedy with her, wherever she appears. Even in the quite dark, sad role of Elphaba. :) Plus she has a great smile which just makes me want to smile too.
If i still weren't convinced I would probably through out the fact that Idina Menzel is taking part in charity programs like "A Broader Way" which she established with Taye Diggs (her husband) in 2010.
