Fundraising numbers have been released with Obama predictably beating McCain by
$51 million to $27 million. The big news, however, is that the Democratic National Committee has outraised its Republican counterpart for the first time in four years, pulling in
$28 million to the Republican National Committee's $26 million. As of now, Obama + the DNC have $94.3 million cash on hand to McCain + the RNC's $96 million. However, if the DNC keeps this up, the Democrats will quickly eclipse the Republicans next month, especially considering the fact that not all of the RNC's money will be invested in the presidential race.
The disparity gets larger if you consider the parties' congressional committees. The DCCC and DSCC both have much more money than their Republican counterparts, meaning that the Republican Party as a whole is now at a significant financial disadvantage.
