what is the world coming to? i ask this question as i sit quietly alone in my dorm. Wars occur all over the earth, poverty is everywhere, innocent people die everyday. I don't understand why. But the bigger question on my mind right now is:
WHY HAS MISS AMERICA MOVED?
I woke up this morning and relaized it is September 17, and I have not yet seen Miss America. Now usually it airs around the 12th, so i prayed that I hadn't missed. I called my mom in a panic to find out the verdict. She reassured me that I had not missed it.
*now to all of you who think I'm being a little over dramatic, fuck you. Miss America is a very importnat tradition in my life. Every year the family gathers round the tv eating popcorn and M &Ms while we pick apart and critique each girl. it is sacred. We even make calls during commercial breaks to our fellow pagent-watchers, just to get their perspective...it a big deal*
When I came home from purchasing my M&Ms I turned on the TV only to find that MISS AMERICA IS NOT ON. instead ABC is showing Armeggedon. I'm sorry Bruce Willis is not nearly as entertaining as 50 of the US's hottest and most sophisticated women prancing around in a two piece and heels.
So i did a little research. as it turns out. Miss America has been bought by CMT. They have the pagent until 2011, and have postponed the airing until JANUARY. im a little flumoxed as to why they have to not only change stations, but move Miss America until January. For me, this pagent was like the welcoming of fall. and now what is it? another HAPPY NEW YEAR? hmph. just to change everything up, they are taking Miss America out of her home in Atlantic City, and moving her to Nashville.
