I Really Need To Stop Reading Old Letters... Look What Its Doing To Me!!

In the car on my way home from work, I had an epiphany.

I really am living my dream right now.  I have a loving family that I would do anything for and who would do anything for me.  I'm in the midst of a fairly successful young career as an entrepreneur in a field that I love... and every day is different and interesting from start to finish.  I don't have the same amount of friends that I had 10 years ago, but the friends I do have are closer than any I've had in my entire life.  I'm living in a house with some land that I can do whatever my heart desires... and my neighbors are some of the nicest folks I've ever met (though I've only met my immediate next door neighbors thus far).  Still haven't met the girl of my dreams yet, but I know God has a plan and I have faith that I will meet her someday, God willing.

Thinking back, life's been a crazy ass adventure the last 10 years.  10 years ago to the day, I was working 2 jobs with Donatos and the Columbus Dispatch my senior year of high school and in the midst of conditioning for lacrosse, which would be starting full-time the following month.  I'd never have imagined then where I would be right now.  Out of high school, I got a job with the Westerville Tree Service that made me realize how much I love getting my hands dirty, working outside in the sunshine, and got me interested in the service industry.  Life led me to Toledo, Ohio where I met some amazing people that are still a big part of my life today.   Earned a business degree there that, with some inner motivation and a solid partner in my father, helped me start a business in the service industry tailor-made for the area where we lived that not only provides for my father and I, but also for my brother and six other fantastic young men, including a family of 3.  In that time, there's been a lot of ups and a whole lot of downs.  One thing's for sure... it's been a lot of fun.

Not sure what the future holds.  I wasn't always sure what I was going to be or if I was going to be successful, but I always thought I was going to get married at 24 and start a family by 27.  If there's anything I've learned, life never goes according to plans, so I don't live by them.  If the next 10 years are as unscripted as the last 10, the next chapter is going to be even more fun to read than the last.

Stay tuned.  Until then, don't do anything that I wouldn't do.

Marcus
