Let me tell you about the Avengers

Apr 17, 2012 10:11

Dear flist,

this is the entry about the Avengers fanscreening that won't contain spoilers (or as little as possible). If you want to be completely unspoiled, I suggest you better don't click the cut.

Anyway, we had a fantastic weekend in Berlin, thanks to my family and Marvel ^^. I didn't faint, although standing in line to get the actual tickets to the screening was a near thing. Once we sat in the seats in the cinema I felt better (although uena had already beat me up by accident) and because this weekend was really amazing we met two lovely girls (hallowchaser and luthien82), who sat next to us (thank you, fate). Judging from their profile info and tumblr I need to meet them again, or at least chat with them XD. Anyway, sitting in a cinema full of other fans (well, for the most part fans, some stupid people were there as well) is simply awesome.

Dear Joss Whedon,

you outdid yourself. Next time warn a girl that she'll miss roughly ten percent of the movie because she's still laughing about the latest one-liner.

I love your story. I love what you did with the characters. I love what you did with the big fight at the end. I forgive you for the one minute of crappy animation because you had all the witty banter one could wish for. I love you for keeping your promise that everyone gets his or her moment to shine. I love that you admitted to yourself very early that yes, indeed, this is a movie meant for the big screen and this time you didn't shy away from it (still love Serenity, though). I love that you gave us relationships that are realistic. I love that you understand what makes humans tick. I love you for making me cry in a superhero movie (still haven't entirely forgiven you, though). I love that you made me care for every single character (well, not for Maria Hill, but only because I don't really knwo her). I love you for giving me the movie I was hoping for.

Lots of love,
Hope

Dear Cast,

you were outstanding. Every single one of you, but especially Clark Gregg. Words cannot express how much I like this man and his character. And I love Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, because the first one very clearly still loves his on-screen brother and the second one -- well, you have to see for yourself. I love RDJ simply because he is Tony Stark and no one else could play him. I love Gwyneth Paltrow because her Pepper is still kicking ass and taking names. I love Scarlett Johansson more than I expected, because her character got depth and humanity, and you can interpret her relationship with Hawkeye however you want to. Well, no one will be surprised when I say I love Jeremy Renner. Let's leave it there unless you want to read two pages of me gushing about him and his character. And Tom Hiddleston ... his character had a very, um, interesting way of looking at the past. Creative historiography at its best. And the hair looked like a bird exploded on his head, but still, loved what he did with Loki.

Lots of love,
Hope

Dear World,

go see that movie as soon as you can. You won't regret it.

Lots of love,
Hope
