Joachim Gauck is the designated Federal President.
I'm so happy right now you wouldn't believe. I wanted him to be the President the last time around, and now he's gonna be it. And I honestly think he's going to be great. He has a way with words I truly admire, he fought for fifty years for freedom in the GDR and later he fought so we never forget what horrible things that state did to its citizens.
I'm looking forward to his presidency.
PS: And thanks to our chancellor, who finally realized what her people really want, and thanks to the opposition parties, who managed not to be too smug about finally getting their way. The press conference was fun to watch.
