And on with Merlin ...
I totally don't buy Morgana's evil reign of evil, but that's the writers' fault ... mostly. And I come to like Sir Léon.
Oh oh ... well, I only have a somewhat blurry version of the episode, but Arthur looks emo. I don't think that's a good sign.
Of course ... the moment I write I may like Sir Léon, he stands in front of a firing squad. Way to go with my witch powers ...
Oooooooookay ... didn't see THAT one coming. *gulp* I ... eh .. take back everything I ever said about not buying the evil reign of evil. Gosh, that girl IS evil. You don't go around killing your subjects! And minor quibble, but how many knights does Camelot have? Ten? Hundreds? Does it depend on how big the threat is to the kingdom who gets one of these totally non useful red cloaks?
No, just no ... I give up. The writers blew this whole evil!Morgana-storyline. It's just sooo over the top, here I'm the evil queen of evil, I can't take it seriously. Suspension of disbelief only gets you so far, my dearest writers.
Aaaw, Merlin's pep talk combined with "things I never wanted to know about food" is really adorable. And now, up you go, Arthur! Eat the rat and defeat the evil queen of evil!
Here I wanted to write about how sneaky ... I can't even spell her name, let's call her Guini (you know, Arthur's future wife) ... is, and then I see the evil queen of evil with her sister standing there and eavesdropping. Yep, that went well.
Ah, she's called Gwen. Okay, I can write that. Gwen it is then.
Seriously, there are definitely too many curtains and doors in Camelot to hide behind. Somebody should change that.
Who? Who's that girl in the water? I'm probably supposed to remember her, right? And Gwaine's "Nature's call" is probably the most random plot device ever -- I'm still laughing.
Crossdressing in the early ages -- buwahaaa.
Btw, am I the only one remembering the poisoned arrow in Arthur's leg from last episode? AM I? Darn.
Wait, I think now Gwen is surrounded by no less than three guys who have the hots for her. I'm kinda jealous.
Arthur to Lancelot: "We owe you our lives (but you don't get my girl as a reward, just to be clear!)"
The Round Table! Wuhuuh!
Arthur's face while Lancelot talks about how much he taught him looks something like this: "o_O? I have no idea what he's talking about. I won't build no new world ... lalalala" I call for a GROUP HUG now! Okay, knighting everybody is also a nice idea.
*lol* Lancelot may now feel less inclined to help Arthur of all people. Don't you think?
Wait ... so we have Merlin (keep in mind that Arthur has no idea about Excalibur and what it can do) and Lancelot on the one side trying to steal the cup -- the MOST IMPORTANT AIM OF ALL -- and on the other side we have Arthur and ALL THE REST OF THE KNIGHTS trying to break Uther free? Somebody needs to set his priorities straight.
They can't kill Lancelot before Arthur's king, right?
This is stupid. Merlin should have given Excalibur to Lancelot, for heaven's sake! He's the better sword fighter of the two.
Did we know that Gaius is a sorcerer as well? Also, this is really not as much blood as I'd expect to be in the Cup of Life if it holds blood from this HUGE ARMY OF EVIL.
Now Morgana sounds like a baby!dragon.
WHUT? They ... no no ... oh my gosh. Don't scare me like this, Gwaine! I LIKE YOU
I really, really tried not to laugh when Gwen made her entrance with all the new knights -- I failed.
So, it's over ... What is it with Merlin and disappointing season finales? It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't good either. It was mediocre. I missed the emotional payout, some stuff didn't make ANY SENSE AT ALL, there wasn't the sense of epic drama from last year's second to last episode. Meh.
