History of the Moon: Volume II, Part II

-... Well that was certainly odd. A name, previously unknown to her, had come with exceptional clarity into her mind. Along with a face, a personality, a body, and lips that she knew had touched hers. How... remarkably strange. Was that a memory she had left behind in her time here? Or was it taken from her? Or perhaps it was entirely false, as ( Read more... )

Hoo~? Well well, if it isn't the beautiful chirps of a familiar owl of the moon. I wonder, to what do I owe the pleasure of being summoned by you? Surely a wandering samurai such as myself can't be worth much or anything worth to discuss.

[And on his own end, there will be small humming noises that were almost... pleasing sounds. He wasn't expecting a call from the doctor but it wasn't unwelcome either.]

-To which she chuckles brightly, as if hearing an old but favorite joke.-

Just come over, dear. Please...

Of course, I'll be there within moments.

[And after that was said, he'll hang up the phone from his end and made sure he had taken all of his needed possessions before venturing onward. Which is at this point was just his normal clothing and his sword.

In exactly fifteen minutes, there will be a knock heard on Eirin's door at her house with him completely relaxed.]

-He's greeted with a similarly relaxed smile, purely appropriate for the matter. After all, she was greeting an old lover, wasn't she? True or false... the memories existed in both of their minds. She was certain of that much.-

Please, come in. I've made tea.

[He nods his head and makes his way inside the house, but removing his getas at the doorway before venturing any further. It was odd for him to be so familiar with a person, given what his role was, but reacquainting with an old lover is not so bad. Especially if there is not much for him to do at all in a town like this.

He glances around at the house, half expecting it to be like something he'd expect from her to redesign herself to her own liking.]

Ah, and I was feeling a little thirsty on my way over. That would be nice.

I made it the way I remember you enjoying...

Funny thing, memories.

Oh, you're beginning to spoil me if you keep at it like this. But if you have gone out of your way and through the trouble of serving and preparing the way I liked it, then I suppose the least I can do is stay longer and enjoy the company.

Hm. It does almost take me back to that time.

That time, indeed. Which may or may not have actually happened.

Which is why I say almost. After all, as fresh and clear as my memory is... I honestly doubt I had time or freedom to move from that one spot and see a beautiful bird at the same time.

Especially with that witch hovering over my shoulders. She tends to get jealous so quickly when another lovely image appears before the temple gates.

Other women being jealous of me is not something I am any stranger to, at least.

Jealous of the brains or the beauty, I wonder? You certainly have both excelled to a remarkable level if our so called memories of each other are anything to go by with.

[He'll reach out for the tea cup and takes a small sip from it.]

Shall I assume that is what our meeting is about? To see what is real and what isn't between us?

You are quite perceptive. That is exactly why I called you here.

If you wish for me to be honest about my thoughts in the matter, then here is what I think... there is a reason why the two of us had forgotten about one another until now.

Whether it was true memories or false, we both know about the moments we shared with one another because we didn't care about what others thought. Once we had gone our separate ways, we continued on in life as if it never happened. But now that we've reunited with one another, do you feel like we should continue where we left off or keep on going as we were before this very meeting on this very day? I, myself, feel indifferent about the matter. It is enough for me to see and talk with you once again.

Hmm... So you're saying that you do not care if these memories are true or false? There's something admirable about that...

Whether they are true or false does not matter since they do not change who I am and who you are as well as what we may have or have not done. If this is to be a sign of something, then let it be a chance of fate between us.

Maybe we are meant to meet each other through one way or another, and we are. The main question is how shall we continue this chance?

-There was a long pause... and then a soft chuckle. Well played, Assassin.-

Well I've nothing else to do for the day.
