And my week long legal procedures course is now over and done with. Yay! Certified and all. -waves certificate-
I am now an authorised officer [although technically I was before] and can:
-Put together points of proof and an offence brief for an investigation file
-Take witness statements and conduct interviews from compliant and non-compliant people. [not fun]
-Take contemperaneous notes.
-Make better use of the legislation through the Departments Act and the subsequent Regulations that apply to it.
-Conduct myself properly and present evidence in the magistrates court. [of which should be very similar to the supreme court]
-etc etc etc.
The bugger of it all is, I'll probably have to actually do all of this at some point in the future with my job. >_<; I don't like interviewing people! You have to caution them once you start the proper interview if you think they've broken the law, and yes, that means going through the "You don't have to say anything, but anything you say or do will be recorded and may be used as evidence at a later date" stuff. [The trick is to say that after you've got their name and address, because that's something that they don't have a right to withold, but if you tell them the caution first, they fight you about it. gah.]
And now... I relax by reading lots of xxxHOLIC that
keh_loves_bloodbrought around last night until I get to the point where I will once again attempt to write more for NaNo. These past three days have been a big FAIL.
