New years Resolutions
(Both silly and serious)
strikethrough means done. XD
Bold Red means failed. D:
Now under a cut as the added comments of 'done' and 'not done' made this a biiiiiit leangthy.
-Get car in to be serviced. (and have enough money to cover the ensuing bill)
Done quite easily. Huh. With how long it took me to get this done in the first place (over a year) it sure turned out pretty painless. Lucky!
-Get through all books piled up in massive 'to read' stacks next to my bed.
Urg. Well I made a fairly large dent and I've read so much more this year then I had in years previous, but the problem with getting my reading groove back was that it meant new books became shiny and sparkly again. This in turn meant that those books in the 'to read' stack would generally get put aside for the newer books.
However, this year I have discovered new authors, fallen back in love with known authors and branched out of my genre comfort zone. While it's not a tick in the 'win' coloumn for getting the resolution done, it's certainly a positive effort.
-Save up enough money to manage month long trip around Japan with Keh and Shoujo.
Woot! Heading out March 31st. Looking forward to it. XD
-Get the front yard finished. (this means plants and pinebark, go plague-thumb me!)
I'm crossing this off, even though technically the front isn't 'finished' finished. But it's done to the point that it no longer looks terrible and anyone on street level can think that it's a front yard, not a jungle. In any case, this will probably be an ongoing resolution like the books. Urg.
-Dye hair. (for gods sake, just suck it up and do it!)
Done. For this entire year I've had black hair. Loved it, although I need to re-dye the roots again at the moment before it becomes really not good. Have been jokingly saying that the next colour I'll go is red. XD May take a while to get to that one though.
-Get furniture for 1) bedroom, & 2) loungeroom.
Eeee. Have gorgeous dresser and bedside tables now. The lounge is still waiting it's coffee table and bigger/better bookshelves but at least it looks like a lounge without them. My clothes are also much happier to have somewhere to go finally.
Dresser of yum. (with pirate flag reflected in background. Ufufufufu)
-Start cosplay for AIcon, complete cosplay for AIcon, rock cosplay for AIcon.
Done done done. I was happy with it when I did it, it was certainly one of the more interesting cosplays I've done skills wise... but on the day and afterwards I didn't feels so happy with it. Don't think I'll be attempting another like it. This year for AI con I think I'll go simpler. Thinking maybe I'll do Robin from One Piece. Hmmmm.... thoughts.....
-(sensibly) own one piece of brand.
Thinking about this, I possibly could be able to strike off that 'sensibly' bit as well. While I wasn't uber bargain hunting by going to the sales com and/or negotiating prices, I did shop during a sale and have held off buying from favourite brands since. (But I have pages upon pages of wishlist dresses now.)
-Keep weight down by continuing properly at the gym. (Maybe even lose a few extra cm?)
Failed utterly. Don't think I've been to the gym in over a month now. Urg. Have to get back into a rhythm so I can stick to a schedule. Even worse, instead of loosing a few extra cm, I've put some back on!! My sadface, let me show you.
-Go through NaNo rough and continue with story plot.
I think this is even more of an utter fail then gyming was. Epic fail? Not only did I not even look at the story, let alone continue, this years NaNo failed to get past 9,000 words making it the worst year I've ever had.
-Stick to budget!
Eh.... I'm not highlighting this one in red since it kind've stuck around the middle. While I didn't always stick exactly to my budget, I didn't blow it out and my bank account settled at around the same amount it was at last year.
-Go to Chado heaps and heaps.
It wasn't heaps and heaps, but did manage to go a fair few times. I'm still sad about the loli meet we had there though. Every other time I've been there it's been wonderful, but the one time a meet is hosted and we go, the service was terrible. I can only assume it was a really bad day.
-Clean rooms enough to open doors and safely let the cat through.
Done. Not spotlessly, but still enought that I'm not worried about Lan eating small nick-nacks as she is sometimes wont to do.
-Pick out some shows to see at the theatre royal and budget them in now so I can't bail out later.
Saw 12th night by Bell Shakespeare at the Theatre Royal and The Boyfriend at the Playhouse. Wish it could have been more, but sadly it was not meant to be.
TR is trying to tempt me though with their gorgeous line up for this year. I want to see all of them!!!
