Spamalot!
I don't know if anyone else has been directly affected by this, but over the last month there's been a big increase in the number of spam comments I've had on both this and my other blog and the spam has been getting more revolting. I'm a pretty open minded person but some of the images posted to my LJ really test it and the blatant racism of some of them is downright disgusting.
Where the comments are coming from random accounts I can delete them, report them as spam and ban the user but over the last week it's moved into anonymous comments. I don't want to switch off the ability to post anonymously but I'm worried that I'll have to if this goes on for much longer.
In other news, I seem to be getting my writing mojo back. I managed to do 5 hours yesterday and another 5 hours today and I'm close to finishing another scene for the current chapter, which is good.
I've also been helping my sister out with something over the last week, which has been interesting. I don't get to spend a huge amount of time with her but this exercise has been a lot of fun and we've been in contact with each other much more frequently to come up with a solution.
There's a documentary on Jack the Ripper this week on Channel 5, which I'm keen to check out. I became interested in the subject after checking out an exhibit at the Museum of London a few years ago and got the germ of an idea for a story out of it but it's one of those stories where I know how it starts but not how it ends. Maybe the documentary will give me a better idea and also whether it's got potential legs as a novel.
