The cool and uncanny

Jul 17, 2010 15:37

It's been a strange old week, all things considered and yesterday was a totally mad day in which certain members of the public sector proved themselves to be madder than a bunch of badgers in a scratchy bag made of insanity. I shall say no more but it does make you realise that there are some people in the public sector who should be forcibly dragged out of their offices and made to see how things work in the real world.

In other news, I'm probably the last person in the UK to realise this, but Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove MP doesn't half look like "beloved" 80s children's TV puppet, Pob. But perhaps you should see for yourself.

Behold Michael Gove:

Behold Pob:

It's uncanny, isn't it?

To make up for the eye bleeding that this may have inflicted on some readers, I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that the fabulous actress Gina McKee (who I've fangirled since watching Our Friends In The North) read a couple of picture books on CBBC written by people I kinda sorta know from here on LJ and the SCBWI.

First up, here is Gina McKee reading YOU CAN'T EAT A PRINCESS by Gillian Rogerson and Sarah McIntyre (aka jabberworks).

Secondly, here is Gina McKee reading THE QUIET WOMAN AND THE NOISY DOG by Sue Eves and Ailie Busby.

Sue Eves is a member of the SCBWI and she does school visits with the book and her talking dog, Woofy. I am a massive Woofy fangirl.

:nods:

Right, I need to get back to writing.
