OK, so I've been living in an apartment near the stadium in B-town with 2 roommates. My roommates are equally annoying in different ways. One treats me and the other roommate as if we are the live-in maids, only we pay him instead of the other way around. He also is incredibly rude when he speaks to us. I thought I was a grammar-Nazi, he's the pronunciation-Nazi as well as a grammar-Nazi. He just won't take into account that I'm from South Carolina, which has had a small influence on my speech. He also does this with our other roommate who is from Portugal. He doesn't just correct us, he rates us for making the mistake in the first place. I can't hang out with a certain friend because him and my roommate are always together, and when that happens, my friend will be just as rude as my roommate. I haven't seen this friend since before Thanksgiving....
My other roommate is easier to be around. She is not rude, just inconsiderate in the lack of forethought she gives things, such as barging into my room at 2 or 3 in the morning to tell me about the guy she just screwed. She often hopes that I will sympathize with her over the issues she and her boyfriend have. They break up and get back together about every other month. I have a hard time sympathizing with her because she feels that they are right for each other despite the fact that he keeps dumping her and taking her back, because he knows she won't truly leave him. Right now she's having a difficult time deciding what she will do this summer. It's between a great internship here in America that could do wonders for her career (she's a business major) or go back to Portugal and spend the summer being with her boyfriend because he'd be happier if she didn't do the internship. Ok, mind you he does not have a college education, nor does he plan on getting one. He claims he wants to marry my roommate. If that does happen, he has also told her that he wants her to be a stay-at-home mom to raise their kids. My roommate thinks my feminist look on that situation is wrong.... I think if she's the one who could earn more money, then he should be a stay-at-home dad, if she marries him, which I hope she doesn't.
They make me want to hit my head on the wall a few times...or maybe slam theirs against a wall. At least next year I won't be living with either of them. I might be living with my brother, so much better than them. My female roommate has suggested that she and I get a 1 bedroom, and when I told her my brother might be living with me, she said he could have the couch. See? Inconsiderate.
Oh, a note for the male roommate, on the off-chance he reads this.... Remember that girl you brought home 1 night, and the next day I asked who she was, and I said I only knew you brought someone home because I heard you talking outside my window? Well, I heard a whole lot more than that. She faked it the whole time! She was totally not getting off. I almost felt sorry for you, but the more I have to deal with you, the less sorry I feel. So, get off your high horse and drop the Napoleon Complex!
