Hmm...

On the upside, it appears that I can still play guitar and sing at the same time. Not well, mind you, but then again I haven't played guitar on a regular basis since high school.

On the downside, I have no calluses left whatsoever and my left hand is screaming at me in Sumerian. Oh, dear Gussie, how it's screaming at me. That being said, I still sound pretty good on Anna Nalick's "Breathe." I think what I need to do is 1) build the calluses up, 2) get back into practice and 3) commit songs to memory so that I can play automatically and dedicate the rest of my brain to the singing bit. That and possibly team up with my friend Theresa and see if any coffeeshops/Potbelly Sandwich Bars need some musical entertainment. And if nothing else, I might take a crack at writing some music again (yes, I write music. Once again, not very well, but I can do it).

Oh, and upon further recollection, I came to the realization that my generic 6-string acoustic was one that my mother had bought for me when I was 13. That's 30+ years and 4 countries ago. Yeah. It has now been donated to Goodwill, and may some hopeful young guitarist get it for a steal. At right is my new baby -- an Epiphone AJ-200 SCE acoustic/electric, which has an extremely warm, mellow sound and a fingerboard that is a delight to play on. Hee!
