Well, this is annoying

I've had this hankering to do a little bit of quilting, so Saturday I decided to make a table runner for the dining room table (also because the dining room is distressingly beige and I really needed to perk up the place a bit).

Got the fabric, settled on a design, and spent most of Sat. cutting out pieces and stitching them together in the craft room. Now, this is the first time I've done anything in there, and instead of bringing up a straightback chair from downstairs I figured, "Hey, I'll just roll my office chair in here and use that -- problem solved!"

Yeah, except that my office chair has arms and won't quite fit under the table I use for sewing (which wobbles as it is -- I need to get a proper sewing table in there), which meant that I had to sit at a slight tilt forward in order to see what I was doing, and spent a number of hours in that position...

Long story short, my lower back muscles started screaming imprecations at me as of yesterday afternoon, causing me to hobble about like a Serbian granny after a bad day in the fields. This morning, I couldn't stand up. At all. Whee. I wound up rolling carefully off the couch to my knees on the floor, then painfully hauling myself to my feet, clinging to furniture and walls as I inched towards the bathroom. Such fun. Been flat on my back since then, which seems to be helping a bit but the muscles are still complaining loudly. Lyndon mentioned that he's using the sewing chair he bought for the leather sewing machine in his office for gaming, and will pick up another one for the craft room.

In the meantime, I think I'll just knit. It's safer, at least until I put an eye out...
