Stephanie was trying not to stare too blatantly, because holy ritzy campus, Batman.

"Which part, sweetie?" she asked. "The relative normal-ness of it all, or the part where we might actually have to do schoolwork?"

The second one was making her nervous.

"Bite your tongue!"

Stephanie totally didn't make a meep noise, really. Nor was she suddenly possessed of the urge to throw salt over her shoulder or turn around in circles or anything. Honest.

". . . that'll be a yes on both counts, then?"

[hoorayimrich]

"Probably both, yeah," Tony replied, curling an arm around hers. "It'll be interesting, at least. Pretty sure I've met a few of the professors at technical conferences."

[batwaffles]

"Which," Stephanie guessed, "is going to make knowing your grades may depend on their every whim just a tiny bit awkward. Possibly."

[hoorayimrich]

"...I hadn't thought about it like that," Tony admitted.

[batwaffles]

And cue the mental facepalming.

"Don't mind me," Stephanie mumbled. "I'm not trying to make it worse. Not on purpose, anyway."

Mmmm, tasty foot-in-mouth.

"Well, if I flunk out, I'll go crash with you."

YES. THAT WOULD WORK OUT WELL.

"Considering you'd then get to deal with my mom?"' See the wince? "That might be good motivation to keep your grades up."

"And check out the sparkling streets of Gotham," Tony added.

[batwaffles]

"Which is ever so much more scenic than this place, oh my god." Stephanie . . . sounded kind of starstruck, actually. She really liked this place so far.

[hoorayimrich]

"I like the city better," Tony admitted, a true NYC boy at heart.

[batwaffles]

Stephanie looked over at him affectionately. "Somehow I suspected you would. But hey, it's a step or two up the hectic-ness scale from Fandom? I was going to say chaos, but that wouldn't be accurate."

[hoorayimrich]

"Chaos is part of our night jobs," Tony replied with a grin. "What would we do without it?"

[batwaffles]

"Learn to play shuffleboard and canasta," Stephanie said, maintaining a solemn expression.

Okay, until she started snickering.
