Room 308, Tuesday After Classes

Jan 04, 2011 12:03

With most if his stuff unpacked and his very first high school class finished, it was time for Tony to relax a little bit. Which, for him, meant drawing up schematics for the suit in case he needed it in space. Or under water. Or spying ( Read more... )

"Jack!" Bobby's running footsteps could be heard before he appeared in the doorway. "Have you started working on your chemistry homework yet? How big an -"

He stopped short as he noticed not-Jack working on a laptop. "Uh, hi? You're not Jack who looks different now, right? Like the girl thing?"

"Girl thing?" Look, his big sibling hadn't been the most forthcoming about these things, so just bear with him.

"...does that mean you are Jack or not?" Bobby asked. "Cause if you are and you finally forgot about that time I turned into a girl...that would be cool."

"Oh cool!" Bobby bounced over to offer Tony his hand. "I'm Bobby McCallister. Jack's my brother. He said you're into science?"

Because science was amazing? And, you know, was his only super power.

"It's--was my dad's company." Now there was the pull between emo and science that could only be decided by clinging to science for the love of all sanity. "Engineering, chemistry, robotics... A lot of different things."

Never mind that now!

"I haven't actually done any astronomy before, though."

"Ooh, it's really interesting," Bobby replied, noticing the change in tense and worrying just a bit. "They have a great telescope here to use too. It's on top of the dorms, and there isn't a lot of light around. You can see tons of stuff. But seriously? Robot stuff? Like what do you mean?"

[God, I'm old and fail. Fell asleep and going to bed for realsies now.]

"Well, my last project was the laser systems on these things call earth movers," Tony said, bringing up the plans on his laptop. Which probably didn't look much like anything other than modern art since it was overly complex blueprints. "That were supposed to help remove the soil, but leave objects with in it intact."
