I'd just like to take a moment to encourage you guys to help others in your community. Any small skill that you have can usually be put to use. Just going through Craig's List, you can usually find an opportunity. Today I found a person asking for someone to do hems for them. They were asking someone to do it cheaply because they are on a fixed income. I looked up what people charge for alterations, and I can't believe that some places want $10 to do a hem on pants. I emailed them and offered to do it for free if they don't have too many pairs.

A hem takes, what, two minutes to sew? And it will help out someone who needs it. The person lives in Port Orange, so she's probably within ten minutes of me anywhere in the city. It is such a small thing to do, but you know that they will appreciate it.

I just want to encourage you to look for small opportunities like this within your community. It can be such a help to others, especially in this time of economic uncertainty.
