I feel like I should post something, because blimey, I haven't posted in FO-EV-ER.
How is everyone? I hope 2008 is going well so far. I know that at least in terms of music, it's going to be brilliant. I mean, there's My Bloody Valentine's new album, a certain musical from my favorite man alive, and a new Magnetic Fields album to look forward to, so I'll be having a bit of fun in 08.
As a belated ChrismaHanuKwanzadan/ New Years present, here is some music that I recently found available online. Oh, the joys of the interwebs!
Just one thing: save these if you want them. These are from other websites and I don't know how long they'll stay available.
Serge Gainsbourg & Brigitte Bardot- Bonnie and ClydeYES. One of the coolest songs EVER. Just listen...and bask in the glory. Do it! I command you! The power of Serge compels you! BASK!
Scott Walker- The Old Man is BackI am loving him more and more. The end of this song almost reminds me of Serge in its instrumentation, and the scatting over the orchestra is just class.
The Divine Comedy- Vapour Trail (Ride cover)I was discussing Ride with a hardcore Shoegaze fan a couple months ago, and I sent him a link to this version of VT, and in doing so I re-listened to it. I never realized how gorgeous it is! We both agreed that the orchestration is much more integrated with the guitars, which, he pointed out, are lovely and shimmery and so very dream-poppy.
Jaco Pastorius- Portrait of TracyI've been playing this on loop for the past week or so. A short, quiet, and sublimely gorgeous solo piece from one of the greatest bassists ever. It's a perfect for those pensive times in the day, when you'd just like to sit alone with headphones strapped to your head.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT:
Icons. Yes, I have them. In truckloads. So for god's sakes, go to
fantasmicon! Take them! BUT DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT! I've found a few of my icons in other people's possession, and that's great, but I would've liked to know about it. I like to know at least a few people appreciate what I do.
