I've never really understood the purpose of continuous homework assignments in classes. In my high school, most homework assigned was not for a grade, with the exception of things like essays, and so I kept up with the class as necessary, sometimes taking a day or even a week off and then catching up later on. I did quite well in high school...
Then, as college has come around, many of the first and second year classes were the same. Later in my undergraduate career though, classes started insisting on regular homework assignments, and for the most part, I did not do them. I would ace the tests, do about half (or less) of the graded homework assignments, and get a B+ or a B in the class. I didn't have as good grades at the end of my undergraduate classes...
Now, I sit here at work, typing an entry complaining about homework instead of actually printing out my homework and starting the darned thing. There's supposedly a lot of homework in graduate school, but I don't really notice a different between now and the end of my undergraduacy. I'd just be happy with the same grades as then (B average) except that in Graduate school, apparently the grading scale is A -- good; B -- ok; C -- failing. Very strange, if you ask me.
Oh yeah...I went home to South Florida again this last weekend, and I even brought my sister down with me. There was more baby-time with my nephew, and I feel much better about my little brother again. We watched a lot of Joe Cartoon's work together, and played Axis and Allies...I enjoyed it.
Meanwhile, back at the Halls of Gaming...er...my apartment...it's still FRICKIN' COLD (from a Floridian's perspective). Would someone please turn off the air conditioning please for about, oh, two months? I would appreciate that. It wouldn't be so bad except that warm air rises and cold air falls, so throughout the year, the downstairs part (where my room is) is about 10 degrees colder than the upstairs part (where my roommates' rooms are). The upshot is that it sucks to be me in the winter and sucks to be them in the summer.
Ah well...I suppose I'll leave this entry here for now. Upon re-reading, there doesn't seem to be much substance to it, but perhaps someone else will find a gem of wisdom in the detritus of my rebelling mind...or something like that...
Will Robert actually start his homework? Will the Halls of Gaming be able to withstand the constant attacks my Mr. Freezit? And how does Robert keep his hair soft, shiny, and manageable? Tune in to the next exciting Livejournal entry, and look for the secret messages giving answers to each of these important questions.
