About Monday

Just in case you weren't paying attention, for four hours on Monday we didn't have a working state government. It was a budget crisis, something becoming more common in the United States in the last few years. The solution? Raising taxes. Back the truck up a minute. Higher taxes? Didn't the Granholm promise not to raise taxes? Doesn't she know that the people of Michigan can barely afford to support themselves and now they have to pay even more tax? This is idiotic. We have a high unemployment rate, one of the highest in the country, maybe even the highest.(I haven't checked lately) So punishing those who are lucky enough to actually have a job in Michigan with higher taxes is a solution now. I'm lost and really confused here. I know if I had a real job that required me to pay tax, I'd be pissed and looking to get out. Of course I blame the whole mess on NAFTA and the ungrateful morons of the UAW. There are so few jobs left in Michigan because of the loss of manufacturing jobs. This loss is partially because the UAW has priced themselves out of business. I swear these people can't just be happy they have a job, they need to whine that they don't make enough money and the insurance they have isn't good enough. WTF. You have a job that pays well, would pay well even if it weren't unionized AND you have fucking insurance. What's the problem here? Toyota proves that a non union shop works and you can have happy employees too. Not only that but they can build one of the highest rated cars for reliability and whatnot in the country. Anyway, by demanding more money and all that, they forced the big three to look elsewhere for labor. First it was Canada. Then NAFTA came along and they all built factories in Mexico. The UAW cried and whined and threw a fit about that. Too bad suckers, you brought it on yourself by being greedy assholes. I'm sure some of you know someone who is a member of the UAW. Do us all a favor and tell them to get a tissue, have a cry and get over it. Then tell them they should be thankful for how good they have it compared to the majority of the workforce in Michigan.

End of Line.
