Random Rant...

Sometime back, somebody posted something about CNA making disgusting grammatical errors and spelling on one of its online articles.

I just came across this paragraph on Straits Times Online:
"New laptops, for example, Sony’s Vaio models, came with more memory bundled in, so they could run faster.
Other rivals like Toshiba threw in freebies like external hard disks and shopping vouchers to entire buyers.

Besides computers, home electronics - particularly TV sets and audio equipment  - were going for prices unheard of outside the show."

Well, I believe it's entice and not entire?

Although my command of English is not 100% perfect, but I still think that there should be a certain standard for a major local newspaper...

Not to mention, Straits Times cover very heartlander type of news headlines. Which is quite distasteful (for me at least), because I don't care about the Lornie Road jam, or the few-cents-rise in electricity bills, etc. It is as if it is just Singaporean to be so concerned about such nitty-gritty stuff?

And the new look of The Straits Times (print version) looks very inferior. No offence to Malaysians out there, but the new design looks as if it's some tabloid newspaper from Malaysia... back in the early 90s.

To give SPH some credit, I always thought that Urban is quite well done, and I am impressed with the content that they manage to actually put together each week. Not easy, I think...

Sidetracking a little, it was very wierd that I typed Straits Times as Straights Times... Twice in just 5 minutes... I must have been mentioning too much about cute (real or seemingly) straight guys over msn/lj...

Hm...
