So much to say and so little time to say it. I just got back from a week-long trip to Crete and let me say it was AMAZING. But before I type up a REALLY long post about that, let me just entertain you (I hope) with a few workings I did while on the island. It was absolutely gorgeous and totally helped my muse. First, here are a few more Olympic Odes I worked on (I'm eventually going to have 12. So far, its 7). Jessi, I know you'll enjoy one of these particularly ;)
“Poseidon”
Mighty Earthshaker, sign of the horse and trident
By your providence, these seas I sail.
The calm, unspoken force
A double-edged blade.
Earth and water,
Together mud, the deadly quicksand
Always feared.
“Athena”
Gray-eyed aeol, wisened one
From the all-mighty, sky thunderer did you spring.
Sign of the olive and fearful in battle,
Great are those you smile upon.
You, who lead away from weakness,
I pray to.
“Apollo”
Shine, brilliant far darter
In one hand the bow, lyre in the other.
Lord of war and peace,
Chaos embodied.
By your unshaken hand you shook the Argive host and brought down the children of terrible Niobe.
Helios fused
Shiner of light, forever you light my way.
Walk with me always my Lord and strength,
With you I am blessed.
“Hermes”
A spry ocean breeze, the sea lapping gently against the shore
Are nothing to your speed O winged messenger.
On fair sandals your words come to bear
And fall upon awakened ears.
Words of joy or sorrow are received openly
For non can deny your shining beauty.
“Ares”
A bloody blade O unnamed one,
Wisened in the ending of life and winning of glory.
Forever enjoyed by Pluto down below, death and riches follow you.
Chaos embodied, changed created
With you kingdoms fall or people saved.
Grab your shield and spear my frightful lord:
History awaits to be written.
