my dirty rice recipe

MY way of making dirty (cajun) rice!

Ground meat (3/4 lb)
Ground pork/turkey (1/4lb)
salt & pepper to taste
Tony's Creole Seasoning (season all works too) to taste
1 cup white rice (I use minute rice)
1 can stewed tomatoes
1/4 Red Bell Pepper Chopped
1/4 Green Bell Pepper Chopped
1/2 Yellow Onion Chopped
1 pod garlic (we use more but love garlic) Chopped

1. Saute your onion, bell peppers, and garlic in a pan with olive oil till onions are translucent.

1a. cook your rice in its own pot

2. add seasoned (with salt, pepper, seasoning mix of your choice) meat to pan with sauted veggies and brown.

3. Add stewed tomatoes to meat and cook on low heat to blend in juices/flavors.

3a. heat oven to 350-400

4. drain some of the grease/fat but NOT all

5. combine rice with meat and place in a casserole dish and place uncovered in oven for 10-15 minutes or until meat has dried out just a little.

6. Serve and enjoy
