...So did you hear about this
runaway bride stuff? (btw this all happend in a city that is about 10 min from me) And the fiance welcomed her back with open arms..... so....
this has been all over the news for the past week here, and it was all over the radio this morning. (at least 4 channels i flipped to during my 25 min drive were talking about it) it was interesting though. Most people think she should be charged, cause they feel that americans dont take responsibility for there actions and this hoax effected lots of peoples lives. Also they feel that the fiance should tell her to go fuck herself. That brought up a whole arguement about how people think that an engagement is not to be taken lightly and broken off like no big thing. Some of the guys on the radio station where saying it REALLY should be considered the beginning of your vows and should be treated like you ARE married, and the part with witnesses and God is just an aditional step to deepening your commitment. I think i agree. The point they were trying to make is that people dont take relationships serious enough. Commitment is commitment, no matter the stage. I have heard so many times from people that ya they cheat on there significant other, but once they get married they wont. Thats bullshit. The interseting part of all this, and i am not trying to sound sexest, but i was surprised to hear that most of the guys involved in this convo agreed with me, and most of the girls were like, eh thats dumb an engagment is a trial period to make sure you REALLY wanna get married. I wonder where all this went wrong....when did we start dismissing the idea of commitment?
