I absolutely love this. At first, when I read the description, I thought it might be kinda cracky. But I immediately was sucked in, I find it a very plausible scenario. I could easily see both sides of the fence, our poor, battered, lost boys, finding each other on the ward, hashing out what has happened. And the staff, watching and listening and thinking, W T F?! Shelly was a kind soul, because most nurses would not tolerate such "hallucinations". Personally, I think she became a fangirl ;) Who wouldn't? Watching Dean and Cas with their profound bond, crazy chemistry, and undeniable love, there's no way anyone could resist. Cas casting out his grace, Guh! *clutches heart* that's our Cas, always willing to give any and all to stay with his Winchesters. I found it heartbreaking when there were separations, Dean from Cas, Dean from Sam. And Sammy, my Sammy, I could see him clearly in my mind, bags under his eyes, exhausted and tormented. Separated from his only family, from his brother! I teared up when he came into the ward and Dean cried. And watching Dean comfort him, "it's not real, I've got you little brother" oh those boys! The Dean and Cas moments were unbearably tender, each one richly textured with such love. So fierce and protective of each other. And I reallly liked the part when Dean got so pissed about the Jimmy issue. I loved watching him revel in and cling to the knowledge that Cas chose HIM. It's so good to see him that way, instead of feeling not worthy. Also, his respect for Jimmy, saying not to insult his family by pretending he was there.
Even though I knew "the end was neigh" i still felt sad for it to happen, and for Shelly who never got home. I like to think she goes to Heaven, and links up with our crew, for a few beers, and to be awestruck knowing they were not crazy! I think they would want to let her know how much they appreciated her kindness at the end of their journey. I love the imagery of the party they are going to have, and I choked up for Sam when he mentioned Jess.
This whole piece is brilliant, really, I'm so glad to have read it. Kudos to you, fantastic job!

Wow- this is the longest comment I have ever gotten, you have made my day! Thank you so much. I was reading through a bunch of fics where they boys or Cas get locked up because they really are insane and I thought, actually, this storyline could work without being AU- hence several hours of furious writing and this. Thank you so much for this comment, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
