hoodie_time Tags Challenge Recs!
Hello hello, just me again, with my August Guest Reccer post #2! As I'm sure you're all well aware, the Tags Challenge is just about coming to an end. Today I just wanted to share some of my personal favorites, be they fic, art, picspams, or vids. All of these pieces I felt made especially deft use of their given tag. And we all love tags. :D

Reccer’s comments: Definitely an interesting take on the prompt, with crisp prose that explores both the internal and the external with depth and close attention.

Reccer’s comments: Detailed rendition of the hospital environment, drawn with immense technical skill but also an impeccable ability to create a pervasive atmosphere of solitude and darkness. Though outside of the doom and gloom, I think my favorite part of this picture is Dean's blanket--you look at it and you know what it feels like. :)

Reccer’s comments: Something that's always mesmerized me is a vidder's ability to reappropriate clips to make them into narratives so seamlessly separate from their source. This vid is the quintessential example of this, with effective use of voiceover, text, and, of course, all the clips.

Reccer’s comments: Gorgeously detailed, from the threading of the couch to the pattern on the rug to the hem of Dean's jacket to his body language to his injuries themselves, this piece rocks the grayscale and brings the impact of blood loss to the fore with muted reds.

Summary: Nothing is real; everything is far away. Everything's a copy of a copy.
Reccer’s comments: Polar opposite of the artwork above, this manip uses hard light and bright coloring to emphasize the experience of insomnia, total exhaustion. The styling and blending of images is reminiscent of Dave McKean's work. The artist mentions the difficulties of putting the subtler sorts of H/C into imagery, but this manip accepts the challenge brilliantly.

Summary: Picspam--still and animated--of Dean's various hospitalizations.
Reccer’s comments: Though the Winchesters spend less time in hospitals than they probably should, this picspam brilliantly illustrates some of the key moments that take place there, or en route to there. Refreshing blend of well-chosen stills and brief animated sequences to--at the risk of sounding cliche--bring the scenes to life.
I know there's still going to be some more extension pieces rolling in in the next few weeks. I plan to do at least one big August wrap up post at the end of the month, if not more insta-recs or shorter, themed posts between then and now. See you then~
