PIECE~Kioku no Kakera

So I watched PIECE. Kinda nice to watch... pity no one had subbed it in English yet.

This story was about Chino Tomoki (Watanabe Shu) who lost his memories from the last three years and wondering what was the purpose of his life. When a strange case of a young man being turned into stone by a modern day Gorgon suddenly turned up, Tomoki decided to pursue the case as it might lead him to finding out about his lost past... as well as finding out the mysteries revolving the death of his girlfriend, Haruka (Asuka Rin). Along the way, he met a young man named Rei (Miura Ryosuke) who happened to have four other 'personalities' inside of him.

As they tried to pursue the so-called modern-day Gorgon, Rei and Tomoki find out that the case was more than what it seemed to appear.

The story was okay... pity there's no continuation. And it is a good concept... combining the mystery genre as well as supernatural science fiction element. And aside from the three toku stars mentioned, there were at least two more in this movie. Itou Kazue (Miki from Gekiranger) and Hasebe Hitomi (Mizuki from Ultraman Max). There should be more... since some of the other faces do seem familiar.

And I liked the concept of the 'piece' being the 'stone' that kept all the memories, soul of the person turned into stone. And how that relate to the mystery around Rei. And Ryon did play his part too well... playing 5 different character at the same time. You kinda wanna pity Rei. What with having the gentle Aya, violent Jin, analytical Ken and childish Yuu all fighting to have their bit of say. And Shu did well in portraying the amnesiac with a dark burden, having to confront such conflict from his past... while eventually being able to move forward once reaching the conclusion.

A part of me wanted more from this story... since while Tomoki's story reached a conclusion, the same cannot be said about Rei. I'd like to see more of what happened to Rei... as well as the project that led to the Gorgons and the pieces.

That aside, kinda cool to have Hino Eiji being Sonozaki Wakana's boyfriend, who later teamed up with Ankh who had four other people inside of him... investigating a case while occasionally being helped by current girlfriend, Mizuki. Not to mention having a Detective Miki in change of the case while hiding a big secret.
