Last week I had a chance to curate the @twt_animepeople twitter account and since I want to break the norm, and considering lately I haven't been following lotsa new anime; I found it better if I just tweet about tokusatsu for a week.
So yeah, I had fun... despite not getting the response I expected since a lot of the followers not really responsive.
I mean... curated accounts shouldn't be any different than normal twitter accounts, unless the purpose of the twitter was to just share new info. Thus to me, with each of the new curators that took over the account; they get to share a side of the fandom that might not be present in another. Or else, the account would be a bit stale.
So I had been hoping for a lot of response from the followers, mainly because I love the interaction and I love sharing the things I love to people.
Regardless, I had fun during the week. And somehow, because of that curatorship, I end up getting new people following my twitter account for I don't know what reason.
It's not like I'm being tsundere... but I'm quite self-conscious when people do that because aside from toku, I DO tweet personal stuff and I DO get to NSFW chats. So it was like... shit, these people saw me tweet nonsense~ Hahahaha.
Well anyway, one of the last chat topic that still lingered on me is that people been telling me about how some KR series/ SS series getting ridiculous nowadays. Wel, I haven't started on Kyoryuger yet, and catching up on Wizard yet I don't understand why people said that Wizard is getting boring.
I was catching up with the episodes and I don't see it (so far) that the plot was stale. I mean... yes, Haruto and the gang managed to prevent new Phantoms being created et al, and we kept being hinted about the Sabbat; it doesn't mean the plot getting stale.
I mean, Haruto's character still growing in terms of Wizard's powers and him allowing himself having a few more companions and there is growth in his character. Like him learning to appreciate Shunpei's desire to aid him and Rinko's support and him working together to fight phantoms. There's character development there. And Haruto wasn't the only one getting the focus here. We see Rinko, Koyomi and even Shunpei getting some growth... alongside Nitou Keisuke as well as the Phantom side; so I don't see WHERE people could say that it is boring. It's not like every two episodes you see Haruto entering a person's Underworld to kill the inner Phantoms (and ENGAGE-ing so many Gate-harems), yanno.
And the series focus haven't just been about killing/twarting the attempt to turn the Gates or just about Haruto and magic. It's also about the other characters (big or small) whose lives revolve around Haruto. I find that very good and well-written.
I was given an example of Fourze, and despite I liked Fourze and the series is quite okay; I like to disagree. Even Fourze had its own flaws. While the theme of Friendship is good, the inconsistent focus on the plot left a lot to desire. This is not merely my sole opinion, but also opinions from fellow fans who also loved the series.
The problem with Fourze is that, we had all these awesome characters alongside Kisaragi Gentarou; yet not enough time to explore their character completely. And just when a sub-character gets interesting... the plot moves on. So don't compare Wizard with Fourze. Or any series with each other. All has its good and bad parts, there aren't exactly any 'perfect' toku series with no flaws.
And I think I heard this statement before, that Fourze should explain some of the unexplained plots in Decade. In which, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Unless they're trying to imply that Showa, post-Decade and Tsukasa's universe are all the very same universe and not an alternate Showa universe or something...
Earlier when Wizard was first announced, I told myself I would support the main screenwriter, Kida Tsuyoshi and wish for his success. Yeap, the same person who heads Hibiki, before that disasterous changes. And I'll still support him and the series. Of course, there are other writers helping him with the series~
I like how as we go along with Haruto trying to keep the Gates from turning into Phantoms, we get to see the other characters growing as well. And as we passed the 30 eps mark, we get to see a different side of Haruto that aren't rainbows and daisies. And these things to me, aren't exactly boring. I like character depth and development, and not just action and SFX and epic battles. Heck, people do say that many of my fics are boring... but I still love them.
I know that not everyone would like or have similar thinking about a series as me, but personally; I prefer people to not try to influence others to mark something as bad without trying to see the positive qualities the series may have.
If it doesn't interest you, then move on to other series that do. Simple as that. It's like people saying Faiz is boring but I do like the much more serious setting Faiz have that's almost comparable to Showa-era series.
