This may be a repeat of previous post, but I just wanna list out the pattern of the GARO plot aside from YamiMono. Yeah... recap.
1 - Main villain is mastermind. And they're revealed to be someone close to the protagonist
- GARO
Ryuzaki Karune had been introduced quite early as Kaori's therapist/counselor. Barago's appearance imply suspicion of GARO being a dark knight, due to similar sword style thus misunderstanding with Kouga. Later revealed Barago was Taiga's apprentice thus similar swordstyle as well as him being Karune, always watching over Kaoru and the others. Planning behind the scene so that Kouga and Kaoru played right into his hand.
- Makai Senki
Fudou Leo is introed as a Makai Priest and an inventor and was assigned to help Kouga. Red Mask appeared and later revealed to be a Makai Priest and can summon a dark version of Makai armour. Seemed to know Kouga really well, suspicion on Leo when mask removed. Revealed to be Leo's twin older brother as well as Kouga's former friend thought to have died.
Pattern for the specials were different though. But there still a pattern on how the villains were introduced.
2. Main character was dying/events counting down to their deaths.
- GARO
Mitsuki Kaoru was bathed in Horror's blood, and the blood will poison her body slowly and weaken her until the 100th day where she'll die in excruciating pain. Kaoru didn't find out until almost near the deadline from Rei. Saved by Kouga (and Rei) when he recoved the Balankas fruit.
- Byakuya no Majuu
Rin tried to protect Tsubasa and almost get hit. Kouga saved her but the Legules blood splattered on her and she risked of turning into one. Saved by Jabi who diluted and purified her blood.
- Makai Senki
Saejima Kouga (and all the other Makai Knights) were cursed with the Seal of destruction and will slowly be consumed by darkness and weakened every time they summon their armours. Kaoru didn't find out until a Horror revealed it. Seal was cancelled when Kouga cut off Sigma's Horror arm.
3 - Main villain gets swallowed by Master Horror they wanna control, and those Horrors are pretty~
- GARO
Barago wanna use Messiah to obtain great dark power. Messiah betrayed Barago and ate him. Messiah is very sexy. Uber big.... but yeah.
- Makai Senki
Sigma wanna use Gyanon's corpse to power Idea. But Gyanon revived and absorbed him. She's really pretty despite being played by a guy who often act in drags~
That aside... Karma is pretty too. Both her forms. Legules is FUGLY cos he's male.
4. Throughout the series, we see how the character grows to be stronger. (Character development)
- GARO
Kaoru grows to be from a damsel in distress into someone important to Kouga. Kouga learns the true meaning of protecting people and truly inherit the Garo title. Rei regaining his faith on the people that inherits the title of Garo.
- Byakuya no Majuu
Tsubasa learns that you don't need to throw away his kindness in order to be strong. Jabi found someone she wanted to protect, her purpose of living aside from succeeding Priest Amon.
- Kiba Gaiden
We learn how Barago ended up like how he did, in which somehow his ordeal sort of mirrorring Kouga's development in the opposite direction.
- Red Requiem
Rekka learns that it makes no difference whether a knight or a priest being the ones fighting Horrors and learning the true meaning of protecting people. Shiguto strives to become strong.
- Makai Senki
Kaoro grows to become Kouga's pillar of support. Kouga strive to become stronger to protect everyone he loves. Rei becoming stronger to protect everyone's smiles. Jabi and Rekka becoming stronger in order to support Kouga. Leo accepting his destiny of inheriting Roudo.
5 - Garo saves and protects everyone and is the strongest. But when he's in danger, it was a girl who saves/helps him.
- GARO
Kouga was almost overwhelmed by Horror hoard but Kaoru drew GARO with wings and gave Kouga the power to defeat Messiah.
- Byakuya no Majuu
Kouga was trapped under boulders. Luckily, Rin's brush was nearby and she summoned him towards her to allow Kouga get free and defeat Legules
- Red Requiem
Rekka (with help of Akaza) summoned the spirits of the fallen knights to aid GARO defeat Karma.
- Makai Senki
Kaoru (with aid of Jabi and Rekka) saved Kouga who was absorbed by Gyanon's corpse. Kouga later used Kaoru's brush similarly like a Makai Priests'.
6 - GARO gets new upgrades osm ladies~

Winged GARO - drawn by Kaoru. (Of course Zaruba also gave other upgrade with the black cape version)
- Byakuya no Majuu
Phosphorus GARO - from Ourin arrow re-energised by Jabi.

Red Requiem
- Rekka
- Makai Senki
Mitsuki Kaoru, Jabi, Rekka

8. Hijii Mika XD
From GARO to Makai Senki, Mika always had an appearance, as Kaoru or illusion that took her form. In Kiba Gaiden, she played Kaoru and Messiah. In Red Requiem, she voiced Karma.
9. Extra knights introduced

Bado
- Makai Senki
Baron, Roudo, tons others
- Yami wo Terasu Mono

Yeah... Imma obsessed with GARO. Yet YamiMono so far didn't impress me. I don't see much character development in any of the three knights ESPECIALLY Ryuga. (And he's supposed to be the STAR) Not just because of the lack of artsy nekid bodies and Makai tattoos... but it seemed the current writers were rushing too much introducing the three knights, Burai, Lian and SG1 all at the same time. Even in Ougon Kishi it took a few episodes to establish Kouga, Kaoru, Barago's character before Rei/Zero was introduced... and then Amon... Jabi...
Same with in Makai Senki, Byakuya, Kiba Gaiden, Red Requiem. You see how characters like Tsubasa, Rin, Rekka, Wataru, Elda, etc were given focus and allowed to gradually grow. You can't really see that development with YamiMono. And I just can't feel any attachment to Ryuga's fight... whatever it was for.
And if Kaneshiro group were realy evil and had some bigger plans to create those Madou Horrors, well... I don't see where the focus is. In Ougon Kishi you can see that despite half the plot was about Kouga/Rei kiling Horrors, there were focused on the collection of sealed horrors and the fact Kaoru always ended up going to placed where Horrors could see her and smell that she was stained. Similarly, Makai Senki was like that as well where the plot focused on the Red Mask trying to kill off all knights and bring back the reign of priests. There was a certain direction where the plot was heading! I don't see that in YamiMono as the plot was going here and there. I do hope it gets better... but I just... can't stand it right now.
And I want to continue supporting the series as a viewer... in respect of the previous production as well. And I hate whoever's in charge of the monster designs. What is that not-really-horror-but-Madou-but-never-show-real-form excuse of a monster in Rock? Or even the bald small fries? Even Cigrateine(sp?) was better written even when played by a comedian.
What's with the vagina mouths? I know the real lesser nameless horrors have those general appearances, but those rarely possess humans so you rarely see Horror-possessed victims doing that... mouth thing. Since the types that do possess people, are the ones that had distinct identities and abilities like Anglay, Agturius, Genojika.... etc. And the mecha types like Humpty, Colt, the Gouryuus had different features as well.
Perhaps the very reasoning the creatures in YamiMono are Madou Horrors is because whoever doing this was just using magic to turn people to Horrors and using the lesser horror to force them to possess people when usually they cant. (My speculation) But still I don't get the direction of this series. I want them to focus on why Garo is turned black and what bone Ryuga had with Burai. And I still don't see how the title could fall so easily on Ryuga when his sword style was still so unimpressive; compare to Kouga, Zero, Wataru, Kengi, the other Makai knights seen in last season. Back with Kouga, even when he hadn't truly mature and gain the true honor of being Garo unti meeting Kaoru; he was already so strong at the start of the series and killed hundreds of Horrors to allow him to summon Gouten. I don't see that kind of achievement in the way Ryuga fights. And if he was so strong to be able to be bestowed with Garo, Zaruba should have been able to acknowledge his strength. But Zaruba didn't. Which brought back the reasoning as to why Ryuga received Garo.
Though, I wonder if Garo losing its light was related to Kouga's contract with Gajari. Since something Gajari said before sounds like it might relate. That he said "even a small hint of light could light the darkness" (Yami wo terasu) when referring to the seal of destruction, and the title of the series being Yami wo Terasu Mono (That which light/shines the Darkness). If it's true... that'll be a good plot direction, but I can't see how the plot could be steered towards that if the current writing remained constant. I hope the latter writing could be better, and not rushed to make it sound half-ass. By now, there should be significant character development on either Ryuga, Aguri, Taker, Lian or Burai but the focus were still scattered. Thus I hope that it'll get better.
