The constitution, as originally written, would have counted Barack Obama as 3/5ths of a human being. A year after I was born, it was still illegal in many states for such people such as Barack Obama's mother and father to be married.
I've never cried for an election before. I know I'm not alone among living people watching the race, or former Americans and citizens of the world who would be watching if they could. Martin Luther King would have tears in his eyes. Abraham Lincoln would have tears in his eyes. Thomas Jefferson would have tears in his eyes. I think I'm in pretty good company.
