gehayi: "Have your feelings about Buffy (the character and the show) changed? Why or why not?"
Yes and no. Obviously, my fannishness has passed to other things. That's the way it goes. Like Xena and Highlander before it, Buffy has taken her place as a former obsession.
In terms of my feelings about the character and the show, though, both remain the same. The show and Buffy have this in common: When they were good, they were truly great. There was a lot of brilliance in both the show and the character. Some episodes reached the level of being sublime. And both the show and the character fell down at times. Like Buffy, the show could be frustrating, even anger-inducing. There were episodes I hated, and times when I didn't like Buffy. And there were times when I loved Buffy dearly and identified with her in painful ways. Complex and flawed and beautiful, and I still feel the show was a uniquely satisfying experience.
So, still fannish? No. I'm not sure I could write BtVS fanfic anymore if I tried. But do I still love Buffy and the show? Oh, yes.
