Iron Man 3

Loved it!

It's always a delight to see RDJ having fun as Tony Stark, but I was happy to see the supporting cast get a chance to shine, too. Rhodey got to prove that he's a badass even without a suit. So did Tony, for that matter. I liked the PTSD subplot; guy nearly cashed it in during The Avengers, after all. RDJ did a terrific job of portraying someone suffering from panic attacks. Naturally. The suits had become his armor against the world. Strip that away and give him only a kid sidekick, and he has to improvise or curl up and die. Tony, of course, improvises and triumphs.

And Pepper! I was so happy with the direction they took her. The bad guy took her as leverage and to make her a trophy of his triumph over Tony. So she did what any badass chick would do: Used the power Killian gave her and part of a suit to obliterate the bastard. I was hoping she'd be the one to take down the baddie, and she did. Yes! Don't fridge this chick!

Perhaps the most brilliant thing they did, though, was how they used the Mandarin. From the moment the baddie was announced and Ben Kingsley was tapped to play him, people were shouting about the racefail. A Chinese character played by a half-Indian Englishman looking like a stereotypical Middle Eastern terrorist? There's no way that can end well . . . unless, of course, the real baddie is purposely invoking the trope, using a clueless Cockney failed actor to draw attention from what's really happening. Ben Kingsley was obviously having the time of his life as Trevor.

The crowning touch, of course, was the tag scene after the credits. Science Bros 4 Life!

In short, the movie is a wildly good time, much better than Iron Man 2, and you should go see it.
